Communications data

Communication plays a critical role in the effort to eradicate polio. Data generated on social perceptions that relate to polio eradication and vaccination, based on established indicators, are reported quarterly to the Independent Monitoring Board. UNICEF leads communication and social mobilization responsibilities for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, working with partners and national ministries of health to build community and household demand for immunization services, and to respond quickly and effectively to respond to community’s concerns in the event of a polio outbreak.

Additional information is made available at PolioInfo, which presents the latest polio campaign monitoring and communication data collected on behalf of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. This data is used to develop profiles of the priority polio countries, in order to guide the creation of localized communication plans that address the barriers of each country’s unique context.

UNICEF creates Quarterly Communications reports which contain the latest information and statistics on communications and social mobilization.
