The Democratic Republic of the Congo has interrupted transmission of indigenous wild poliovirus and of imported virus which had re-established transmission. Vaccination rounds of consistently high quality, along with demonstrated improvements in AFP surveillance, will be needed to ensure the country stops all transmission of polio and remains polio-free.
