The strategic plan for eradicating polio was developed following a request by the Executive
Board of the World Health Organization and is based on
lessons learned during 2009, including those from the Independent
Evaluation of Major Barriers to Interrupting Poliovirus Transmission. It
incorporates input from a broad range of stakeholders and complements
country-specific Programmes of Work which detail the activities to stop
polio transmission.
