The Global Polio Eradication Initiative works to stop polio transmission; to
conduct relevant research and develop products that can hasten eradication and
prepare for a polio-free world; and to ensure that the infrastructure and knowledge that has been gained through the initiative is transferred to address other important public health programmes.

develop the rationale
for stopping the use of oral polio vaccine; and to inform policies on safe ways
to do so.
