Asian Ministers of Health meeting

The spearheading partners of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative host a meeting of Health Ministers of polio-endemic countries in Asia on 4 February: Afghanistan, India and Pakistan This is a follow-up to the meeting of health ministers and the launch of the Geneva Declaration held in January 2004 and complementary to African ministers' meeting of January 2005.

The objectives for the meeting are twofold: for governments to report on progress towards the Geneva Declaration pledge to interrupt polio transmission and to identify what is being done and what needs to be done differently at the international, national and sub-national levels, to ensure polio transmission is stopped everywhere by end-2005.
